Laboratory Opening Event
for the Division of Molecular Biomedicine for Pathogenesis
(2006.6.16)
|
|
We are very glad to announce all of you that we will have a
Laboratory Opening Event for the Division of Molecular Biomedicine for Pathogenesis,
CDBIM, The University of Tokyo, by welcoming Maestro Krystian Zimerman, one of
the most celebrated and outstanding pianists and artists in the world. The event
will contain a short program concert performed by Maestro Zimerman, followed by
an extensive discussion and conversation by maestro and Dr. Toru Miyazaki, Professor
of the Division of Molecular Biomedicine for Pathogenesis. The discussion will
focus on various interesting topics, including; Artistic and scientific inspirations;
Strategy to realize musical/scientific ideas; Discrepancy between the satisfaction
for performers (artists and scientists) and the demand by audiences and/or societies;
To be a specialist or to be omnivorous; and Absolute truth in music and science;
etc. We hope this event will inspire the motivation for science within young scientists
and students, and thus, may open a door towards new ideas for future scientific
progression. In addition, the topics discussed should also be attractive for the
audience in a broad range of fields, even not related to science.
